We’ve been asked recently about which people prefer, Camtasia, ScreenPal or something else, so I thought I’d ask it here.

Personally, I use ScreenPal for recording my screen and webcam. Camtasia for editing and if there’s something that needs a heavy-hitter I’ll use Premiere Pro.

What do you use, and do you use different tools for different things?

P.S. Camtasia and ScreenPal templates are now live:

I used to use ScreenPal for quick, one take videos but I pretty much do everything on OBS for recording and Davinci Resolve for editing these days.

OBS is great, Mark.

I used to use it, especially for streaming.

What I like about screenpal is it exports simple, small file sizes.

I also sometimes send myself slack video messages and use those for shortform content.

I think ScreenPal is really easy to use so I’ve used it for all my initial recordings. However, their webcam filters are still very basic and if you use a fake background the result is far from what you get on zoom or MS Teams. Hopefully it’ll get better in the coming versions…
