Understanding and Enhancing Your Demo View Rate with Consensus

In the world of B2B sales, keeping an eye on demo view rates can really help you understand how engaged your buyers are. In this article, we'll explore why these view rates matter so much and show you how Consensus can help enhance them.

What is View Rate?

The view rate shows the percentage of recipients who take the time to open and enjoy your demo videos. This metric is super important because it reflects how interested and engaged your audience is with your content. A higher view rate often means more buyers are intrigued, which can lead to quicker sales and better closing rates.

Only views from external email domains are counted in Demolytics. A DemoBoard counts only if at least one recipient has an external email domain; if all recipients are internal, it will not count. Thus, to be included in the denominator and potentially contribute to the numerator (having a view), a DemoBoard must have at least one external recipient.

The view rate in Consensus is calculated using a specific formula that focuses on DemoBoards with at least one qualifying view.

  • View Rate

          Formula:
          (DemoBoards Viewed ÷ DemoBoards Created) × 100
          Example: (300 ÷ 1,000) × 100 = 30%

  • Recipient View Rate

           Formula:
           (Recipients With a View ÷ Recipients) × 100
           Example:(600 ÷ 2,500) × 100 = 24%

  • Total Views

A lot of people get confused on this part:

Definition: All sessions where a DemoBoard was viewed, including multiple views from the same person.
Example: 1,200 total views (could include repeat views).

  • Total View Time

Definition: Total time spent by all viewers across all DemoBoards.
Example: Viewers spent a combined 100 hours and 15 minutes.

  • Average View Time

          Formula:
(Total View Time ÷ Total Views)
          Example:
If total view time is 6,000 minutes and total views are 1,200,
          6,000 ÷ 1,200 = 5 minutes average view time

  • Public links conversion rate:

(Number of Leads ÷ Total Number of Views) x 100

Why View Rates Matter

  • Measure Engagement: View rates help you assess how engaging your demo content is and which topics or features resonate most with your audience.
  • Optimize Content: By analyzing view rates, you can identify which demos are performing well and which ones may need refinement.
  • Improve Buyer Journey: High view rates suggest that your demos are effectively capturing and maintaining buyer interest, thereby enhancing their overall experience.
  • Increase Conversions: Engaging and frequently viewed demos are more likely to convert prospects into customers, improving your conversion rates.

Best Practices to Improve View Rates

To further enhance your demo view rates, consider implementing the following best practices:

  • Start with Engaging Intros: The first few seconds of your demo are critical. Make sure your intros capture attention and invite viewers to continue watching.
  • Keep It Concise: Aim for shorter, focused demos that cover key points without overwhelming the viewer. Breaking up long content into shorter segments can also improve view rates.
  • Use Clear Calls to Action: Guide your viewers on what to do next, whether it's exploring another segment, signing up for a trial, or contacting your sales team.
  • Continuously Optimize: Regularly review your demo content and analytics to identify areas for improvement and ensure that your demos remain engaging and effective.
